Peter

With my extensive knowledge of mechanics, electrical engineering, computer science and business administration, I support customers in the fields of mobile robotics, automation and digitalization.

My work is pragmatic and solution-oriented. And with a focus on the real added value for you as a customer.

Because as “fascinated” as I am by technology, at the end of the day, technology should serve people and the company and generate sustainable benefits.

The only way to do great work is to love what you do.

– Steve Jobs

From electronics technician to mobile robotics expert

My professional journey began with a solid apprenticeship as an electronics technician, which laid the foundation for my varied career and a successful career. With sound technical know-how, I initially worked as a maintenance technician and gained valuable experience in the maintenance and repair of technical systems.

Software development and project management

The next step led me into the fascinating world of software development. I created innovative software solutions for highly automated machines and systems. At the same time, I completed further training to earn a Bachelor Professional in Engineering.
In addition to my professional activities, I have successfully completed a Master’s degree in computer science.

During this time, I realized how much I enjoy developing technical concepts and organizing projects together with my team and, above all, with the customer. I therefore gradually took on more and more tasks as a project manager. However, I very quickly realized that even the best technical ideas will not lead to the desired success if the general business conditions are not taken into account. For this reason, I trained part-time to become a Master Professional of Technical Management.

During my time as a software developer and project manager, I have implemented automation projects ranging from state-of-the-art painting systems, efficient assembly systems and automated handling equipment to conveyor technology and high-bay warehouse systems. One focus was on automation in the area of logistics. Customers ranged from medium-sized SMEs to very large stock corporations. However, I spent most of my time working with the major German car manufacturers.

With a wealth of experience for economic requirements

Over the course of my career, I have moved away from technology and taken on more and more management tasks. In the first step, I was responsible for the “Project Management” department. I then headed up a team of 50 technicians and engineers as a business unit manager. During this time, I was able to gain very valuable experience in the areas of employee management and business administration. However, the products and services that we have supplied to our customers during this time have always been in the field of automation technology, my real passion.

Fascinated by mobile robotics

This passion led me to take the next step and leave the management level again to focus on the most interesting and fascinating technology of my professional life to date – mobile robotics.

The word “fascinated” best describes my relationship with mobile robotics. This is why it is even reflected in the company name – “Digital Fascination”.

As head of development, I started developing autonomous mobile robots with a small interdisciplinary team. In this role, I was able to work intensively in all areas of mobile robotics. From mechanics and electrics to algorithms and safety technology.

Expert committees at national and international level

Thanks to my many years of experience in the field of automation technology, I quickly realized that the topic of “machine safety” is essential for the development of mobile robots. Numerous theoretically possible functions in robotics fail in industrial practice because the required level of safety cannot be achieved with the available means.

For this reason, I have acquired in-depth knowledge of the relevant directives and standards over many years. It fills me with particular pride to be actively involved in international standardization work. I am a member of ISO standards committees for driverless industrial trucks (ISO 3691-4), humanoid robots (ISO 25785-1) and industrial mobile robots (ISO 26058-1), where I contribute my practical experience to the further development of safety standards.

Together with Dr. Günter Ullrich, I also chair the VDI Technical Committee “Mobile Robotics”. This committee is one of the most important expert committees in Europe in the field of mobile robotics. It produces directives and guidelines that serve as binding orientation for manufacturers, integrators and end users and have a lasting impact on the technical and safety-related development of the industry.

Innovation for your company

Within a few years, we have built up our own company with 70 employees from the small team mentioned above, which I have led into the future as Managing Director. You probably already guessed it: in this role, management tasks and business figures once again took center stage. My distance to technology grew with each passing day and direct customer contact became less.

So after long and intensive deliberation, I came to the decision to switch back to technology and customers.

My aim is to support you as an experienced and practice-oriented consultant. Let’s work together to develop solutions that generate clear added value.
